Saturday's Silly Saying- This One's From Me

What's the good of posting other people's silly sayings if I can't post my own?!?

(Scene: Grace is standing holding the dorm door wide open.  The air in the hallway is colder than the air in our room and is blowing inside, making us cold.)

Evelyn: Hey, I want to read you this awesome quote by Augustine.
Me: Uh, there's already a gust in here

(Grace cracks up, Evelyn continues reading blissfully ignorant, and about 3 minutes later dies laughing on the floor...)

And this, friends, is what happens when sleep deprived friends are together!
Have a great weekend =)

Saturday's Silly Saying

Amusing conversation of the week:

Stasia: "We could never take you and Evelyn camping."
Me: "I lived in an RV for the summer and didn't shower for a week; I think I could handle camping."
Evelyn: "We had a pet scorpion, I can handle camping!"

Stasia and I: "How on earth does that follow?!?!?"

Saturday's Silly Saying

First.... I have to tell ya'll this, because I'm super duper excited... I just passed 8800 views on here!  I think that's huge... I'm just a random little college blogger, and I never thought I'd get that many people reading just over a year.  Thank you all for reading and commenting and sharing and being amazing.  It's nice to know that people are actually enjoying what I write.  I didn't post yesterday, and that's simply because my Sadie Hawkins post was still getting a lot of attention.  I figured I'd let the dust from that one settle before I moved on.  (It's now my most read post!)

Without further ado- this week's silly saying comes from Dr. Martin once again.  (I'm telling you, this man is a hilarious genius!)

I've never taken a measurement of the human womb, but I'm guessing it's pretty small.  It's smaller than Rhode Island, and that's a tiny state!
Have a great weekend, everyone!  I'm off to a concert by Seraphic Fire... It should be really good!

Saturday's Silly Saying

Happy Birthday, Mama Mary!

This Silly Saying is from Dr. Martin, my Christology professor.  He's been talking about Mary and her connection to Christology.

"Mary could have said 'No'.  She could have said 'No, I want to be a stenographer' or 'I want to be a lady wrestler'".

This particular career choice for Mary made us all crack up.  The best thing about Dr. Martin is that his goal isn't to make us all laugh, yet we do anyway.  I have a funny feeling that you'll be seeing more Dr. Martin quotes in the future.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Saturday's Silly Saying!

It's back!  I figured now that I'm back at school, I'll start doing these again. :)  This story's from the summer:

We were walking through a fairly flat area, in some state out west (they all blur together after a while).  I had just finished my shift, so I was riding in the support van and there were 2 people walking (It may have been Stephanie and Zechariah.... but I'm not quite positive.  If you guys read this, let me know who it was!)  We approached some construction and, as we were supposed to do, made sure with the workers that it was ok to walk through.  (usually it was ok as long as we walked on the other side)  This worker looks at us like we were completely out of our minds and says "Guys, we got 5 trucks and a water truck... you can't walk through here!"  Uh, so the water truck isn't a truck?  Or is it just so significant that it stands on its own?  We were a bit taken aback, to say the least, and then realized the hilarity of the situation.  So we drove through the construction (it was one of those where a pick-up had to escort you), made a u-turn, got escorted back through, made another u-turn, picked up the walkers, got escorted back through.... by the end we were all laughing uncontrollably.

Oh, the things that happen on Crossroads...!

busy weekend ahead.... I have oodles and tons of reading to do.  Only 3 encyclicals, a chapter in Psych, a handout, an entire design book (209 pages), and another book (like 200 pages).  And that's just for Monday and Tuesday!  There's a Festival of Praise (FOP), 2 Masses,  Lord's Day, and a returning minister's training on Sunday.  Ach, well, I'd rather be busy than bored!

Saturday's Silly Saying

"Guard the deposit, defend the twitter!"

This comment is from my Catechetics class (which I will greatly miss...).  Anyway, my professor was asking how we all received our Church news, and a couple girls commented that they used Twitter.  After a couple minutes of teasing those of us who use twitter (yes, I included myself in that.  Go ahead, look shocked.  Really.  It's ok.) and the two girls defending twitter, Prof. M came out with that (^) hilarious statement.  Ya know, twitter is a really good catechetical tool.  Just sayin'.

This, of course, also comes after a fire alarm went off in our residence hall two weeks ago.  We had been speaking in Catechetics about "guarding the deposit of faith".  My friend who is in the previously mentioned Catechetics class heard the fire alarm, grabbed her Catechism, and as I ran down the stairs, I heard her yell at the top of her lungs, "It's ok, people, I'm guarding the deposit!"  So Prof M's comment was well timed.

Look at that, you got two silly sayings today.  :D

Saturday's Silly Saying

A conversation between two friends:

"I have everything and the kitchen sink in this bag!"
"No wonder the dorm kitchen's been closed for the past week...."

Saturday's Silly Saying

It's that time of the week again!

"Don't swim too fast!"
In my Catechetics class, we read from the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) pretty often.  My professer was telling us some of the more interesting, unknown paragraphs in the CCC.  One such section is 2290, which reads, in part, "[...] Those incur grave guilt who, by drunkenness or a love of speed, endanger their own and others' safety on the road, at sea, or in the air".

We all thought this was pretty funny, considering the fact that they include "at sea".  Boating?  Forget that, just don't swim too fast!

Have a bee-YOU-ti-ful weekend!

Saturday's Silly Saying

Do you ever feel like people just say the most hilarious things, and then you don't remember it later?  Yeah, me too.

Lately, i think my posts have been pretty serious.  So I've decided to break things up and begin a new weekly theme- once a week, I'll post a funny quote that I've heard or that makes my friends and I laugh.  It may be from a book, a movie, a friend, or a teacher, and sometimes it will require a bit of explanation.  I'll continue this as best as I can over the summer, but I make no promises!!
So, without further ado, today's Silly Saying!

"Your hands are cold."
Anyone who's seen the new Pride and Prejudice with Kiera Knightly most likely knows this quote.  It comes at the end of the movie, when Lizzie and Darcy meet in the field.  It's early morning, and the birds are singing..... and Darcy says, "Your hands are cold".  It's really funny timing, and doesn't really seem to be relevant.
