I am a collecter.
I collect words. Quotes. Beautiful phrases and compilings of thoughts. Words, I think, are fascinating things. You can get a complex thought across with a single word, or you can take paragraphs to say a simple idea. I have a wall of quotes next to my desk here at school, and because I had so many, now they've spilled over onto my closet doors.
Because I love quotes so much, I decided to write an inspirational quote on the whiteboard outside my dorm door before the freshmen arrived. I left it up for a week, and at the end, people had written on it "Thank you", "Love this", and "Keep putting these up".
Ok! So the quote was a hit, and it has become a weekly thing:
Evelyn asked me the other day where I got so many awesome quotes. Honestly, I just "pick them up"... Some have come from magazines, others from songs, others from blogs and articles online, or from inspirational people. If I come across a quote online, I'll just quickly jot it down on a piece of paper or type it out on my phone or computer.
What are some of your favorite quotes?
xoxo,
Funny! I'm a quote collector too! Bet you couldn't have guessed that!?
ReplyDeleteI have a stash! In high school I was crazy about finding ones I liked. In college too! Fr. Brian Cavanaugh was big into sharing quotes during homilies. I'm not sure if he's still at FUS or not. Anyhow, now 12 years of marriage and 6 kids later I can't say I give collecting quotes a ton of thought, but I still have a love for 'em!
